06.25.07 -- Its been over a month sence we last updated Derek's website. Man I must say, alot has happened sence then. Derek is having a AWESOME year this 2007 racing season. Derek has picked up 2 feature wins in a row, one being at Phenix City (in first career behind the wheel of a 360 sprinter) and another at CMS in Winona Ms. Before these 2 wins, Derek has been posting consistant top 5 runs each and every night with the USCS. Who can forget the beautiful run he had on his World Of Outlaw debute, driving from 26th starting spot up to 8th passing guys like Donny Shatz, Steve Kinser, Danny Lasoski, before falling back to 18th after having a right rear tire loosing air. Derek is in his 2nd full time season in a 360 sprint car, and let me give you a small history of those 2 years. Derek made his 360 debute on April 1st of 2006 at Malden Speedway, making the A Main with a stunning field of 30 of the best sprint car drivers in the country. Moving on through out the year, Derek posted a handfull of heat race victories and a few top 5s, and topping off the 2006 racing season was making the 19th Annual Short Track Nationals, than brings in 100+ sprinters from coast to coast to race for $15,000 to win 1900 to start. Derek made the cut, starting the grid from the 18th starting spot, Derek made a quick charge up to 10th starting spot, and following his step-father/car owners orders before the race, "if you get lapped, pull in and get out of the way of the leaders", litte did Kenny know, Derek was going to make the best of his 2006 STN debute and make his way up to 10th before winner Jason Johnson would get past Derek with 10 laps to go and Derek did just what he was told and came in. Well thats a small recap of Dereks short but star studding career thus far.
